You might have seen a recent Lead Story in The New York Times. It was an article about how most of the participants in The Biggest LoserTM TV show regained the weight they lost.
As they described it, the weight often came back “with a vengeance.”
My team and I all read the story and we just shook our heads. To us, this was not news. As clear as day, in our minds, this was almost guaranteed to happen.
There are two main reasons for this, that I will discuss in this email.
The first reason people regain weight like this is from what we call “fake success.” People who are members of Life Time Fitness understand that real success has durable foundations, and takes steady work over a period of time. You most likely already possess a success mentality, because you have successfully performed in other areas of your life.
And you have likely done this from a young age.
To you, any extra weight is simply a challenge to deal with. It is a goal to accomplish just like any other thing in your life you have already done. And done well.
Like us, you clearly understand that once the TV cameras are off, the motivation is gone. And therefore, not sustainable.
The second reason people regain most of the weight they lose, is that they have not moved beyond traditional dieting and nutrition approaches. Put simply, people who regain weight cling to the “eat less, move more” philosophy. And while this approach has some great benefits, it is not a sustainable formula for success.
The correct success formula here is changing how you eat, slowly, over time. In particular, when it comes to your brain, change has to happen in a slow and steady manner. Or your brain will rebel.
When it comes to the “how you eat” part of the equation, most of us think we just need to “eat better” and “eat more healthy foods.”
While this is often true, there are so many healthy foods out there which simply shut down your metabolism.
At Life Time, we have proven the real world application of metabolic nutrition. What this means, in simple terms, is that we know what you should do. And we know that for the most part, you will do it.
The most doable program we have, a program that helps put you on this slow and steady path is D.TOX. This is a short program, just 14 days, and the results have been very consistent. The average person loses 5 pounds, and a full 90% of participants lose some weight.
Part of almost all success is asking for help. If you are willing to follow this protocol, and be open to what we say, we will help you a ton.
Our next 14-Day online D.TOX program starts on June 20.
