| background: At the turn of the 20th century, Hermann and Meta Dreyer were among a wave of German immigrants who settled in Oceanside, California. Starting a new life in farming, they laid the groundwork for a family legacy that would span three generations.
In 1952, the Dreyer family moved from Southern California to the heart of California's agricultural hub, the San Joaquin Valley, where they began cultivating olives, tree fruit, and grapes. Eventually, they settled in Woodside and Glen Ellen in Sonoma Valley, where their focus shifted to winemaking. Today, Jonathan Dreyer, the youngest son and third-generation winemaker, continues the family tradition, managing the wine business. With over 70 years of farming experience in California, the Dreyer family has been growing grapes and making wine for three generations, producing wines under the Dreyer Sonoma, Compass, Solitude, Il Cuore, and Seabiscuit Ranch brands. | |
