In case you missed it, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 2026 Oscar nominees yesterday. Unsurprisingly, Ryan Coogler's blockbuster vampire horror Sinners swept — making history with a record 16 nominations. Other big titles, including One Battle After Another, Hamnet, and Sentimental Value, also dominated many of the categories, so if you don't have plans this weekend, it might be the perfect time for a movie marathon. Check out the full list of nominees.
Car Wash Chain Takes Top Spot in Glassdoor's 2026 Best Places to Work List

If you or someone you know is on the hunt for a new job, here's a list worth bookmarking. This week, Glassdoor released its annual Best Places to Work winners — ranking U.S. and U.K. workplaces based on feedback straight from the source: anonymous employee reviews submitted to the platform. The No. 1 spot in the U.S. went to Crew Carwash, a family-owned car wash with locations throughout Indiana and Minnesota, which earned standout reviews for its supportive leadership, career growth opportunities, and team culture. The chain dethroned Bain & Company, a consulting firm that claimed the top spot for the seventh time in 2025 (this year, it ranked No. 8). To determine the rankings, Glassdoor evaluated employee reviews across key factors like culture and values, career opportunities, compensation, leadership, work-life balance, and diversity. "These standout employers have shown resilience, sustaining high levels of employee satisfaction and trust as they navigate change," Glassdoor's President Owen Humphries said in a statement. Coming in second and third place were In-N-Out Burger and Nvidia, respectively. See the top 100 winners in the U.S.

Ahead of America's 250th Birthday, Rare Draft of US Constitution Hits Auction Block
Christie's
The United States is reaching a major milestone this July — turning the big 2-5-0. And Christie's is kicking off the semiquincentennial celebrations early with its "We the People: America at 250" auction, taking place today in New York and online. Among the many storied artifacts on the auction block stands a rare, annotated, early printed draft of the U.S. Constitution, estimated to sell for between $3 million and $5 million. "With this document, you get to sit in the Independence Hall with the delegates as the Constitution is taking its final form," explained Peter Klarnet, a senior specialist with Christie's. "It's one of only two printed drafts produced for the delegates, so they could quite literally be on the same page during their deliberations." He also noted that it's the first version to begin with the preamble "We the People of the United States." Other auction standouts include one of 27 known signed copies of President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and the birth certificate of Apple (i.e., the agreement that established the tech company), both of which are also expected to fetch millions. Scroll through all of the pieces.

Scientists Produced a Sugar With Fewer Negative Effects — And Maybe Even Some Benefits
Tamara Chuchkova/iStock
As much as we love digging into a pillowy donut or sipping on a velvety milkshake, we know that added sugar is best enjoyed in moderation. But now, scientists at Tufts University have produced a synthetic version of tagatose: a rare, naturally occurring sugar that tastes similar to table sugar but has 60% fewer calories, a smaller impact on blood sugar, and even some potential oral health benefits. Tagatose is found in certain fruits and dairy products, but only in very small amounts — so in a new study, scientists used genetically engineered bacteria to produce it. The process involved converting glucose, one of the two molecules in table sugar, to galactose, which is then turned into tagatose. Unlike established methods, which author Nik Nair said in a press release are "inefficient and expensive," the new process is much more cost effective, with yields reaching 95%. While tagatose is approximately 92% as sweet as table sugar, our small intestines only absorb some of it, leading to a smaller impact on blood glucose and insulin levels. It may also prevent some of the harmful bacteria growth in our mouths — including the kind that causes cavities — and promote healthy bacteria in both the mouth and gut, similar to a probiotic. There's more work to be done before the sugar is ready for mass manufacturing, but the study authors believe their methodology could change the way sweeteners are developed.
