| background: Chateau Bourdieu dates back to 1464. Located on Bordeaux' Right Bank in the Cotes de Blaye region. The estates vineyards have a mixture of clay, limestone and gravel soils. Ideal for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate covers 180 acres and the vines average a mature 35 years of age.
The property today is owned by the Schweitzer family who bring decades of winemaking passion. They meticulously care for the vineyards keeping the vines healthy and yields low. In the winery they carefully sort the grapes and ferment in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The grapes macerate for 3 to 4 weeks and then age in the same tanks to retain the bright character of the fruit. Winemaker's Notes A blend of 87% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. The 2023 offers a beautiful red ruby color deep and intense. It exhales red fruits and blackcurrant aromas, completed by notes of redcurrant. The mouthfeel is round and juicy, with a smooth, well integrated tannins that offers a nice structure and a long finish. | |
